Ideas - Continued


I was researching into what what objects/things are associated with the "weirdcore" aesthetic and found the following things that I plan to take into consideration while planning my digital painting:

- Eyes or eyeballs

     Evokes a sense of being watched and vulnerability

- Liminal space as the background

     Places that feel familiar yet slightly off to provoke an "uncanny" feeling

- Screens and monitors

     Replacing faces displaying cryptic messages, symbols or blending human and digital elements

- Childhood objects

     Evoking nostalgia or anemoia

- Distorted human forms 

     Faces with missing features, multiple eyes or simplified human shapes that feel uncanny

- Blurry or lo-fi items

     Low-resolution or compressed images of everyday objects to create a dream-like effect

- Text and signs

     Cryptic messages adding to the eerie atmosphere 

- Unreal colour palettes

     Creates a unique visual experience that is unsettling yet comforting

- Glitchy neon

  Video Art - Project #3 Part - 1 / Short Video Sketches Starting Project #3, I approached the first part of the assignment, short video sketches, by setting up a still life using a black sheet as my backdrop, an orchid, boxes, a rope, decorative pumpkins and a wood carving consisting of two mushrooms. With my set up, I began to carefully plan out the continuous camera shots I needed to take and I even played around with my Canon EOS Rebel SL1's settings, particularly the saturation since it was needed for one of my shots; I increased my saturation to the highest possible (+).
